Hi, I'm John Irvin...
Hi, I'm John Irvin...
"I founded NEW LEGACY Coaching because I believe no one should have to navigate the challenges of life alone, and no one should settle for a life lived without intention."
When you work with me, here is my core promise to you:
Empathy, Authenticity & Zero Judgment: I lead with real experience. While I may not have walked in your exact shoes, I know what it feels like to sit at the edge of losing everything that matters most. You will enter a completely confidential, zero-judgment space where you can take off the mask and be brutally honest about where you are.
Forward-Looking, Real Solutions: It is valuable to look backward to understand how you got where you are today. But for many, looking backward can leave you feeling stuck. My coaching is built for the future. We won't dwell on what went wrong; we will focus on where you want to go. Together, we will cast a clear vision for your next chapter and build a practical, step-by-step roadmap to get you there.
Accountability & Commitment: Transformation is a two-way street. I am fully committed to your success, and I will bring 100% of my energy, structure, and tools to every single session. But coaching only works if you do—I cannot do all the hard work for you. You bring the willingness to act, and I will bring the framework and support to turn your actions into a lasting legacy.
Most of my life has been defined by what people would call "success." I was class valedictorian, built my own consulting business in my 20s, met and married my beautiful wife in my 30s, and together we raised two incredible daughters. I climbed the corporate ladder at Deloitte, eventually becoming a Managing Director and leading several hundred professionals as Chief Data Officer.
But life isn't always as it seems on the outside.
While managing complex strategies and controlling outcomes served me well professionally, I struggled deeply where I couldn't control outcomes as easily—at home. Unresolved personal growth needs around pride and control began to take over. To cope with the stress and internal friction I was ignoring, I turned to and struggled with destructive habits behind closed doors for years.
Over time, I became increasingly disconnected from the people who mattered most. Eventually, I arrived at a terrifying crossroads: face my issues, get real help, and make lasting change—or lose my family.
My true healing process began when I enrolled in a recovery program called Re:Generation through my local church. By God's grace, the leader of that program introduced me to a Certified Life Coach.
I had always utilized executive and leadership coaching to sharpen my professional skills, but I had never considered applying coaching to my personal life. That decision was transformational. Together, my life coach helped me peel back the layers, face my blind spots, and define a clear vision for my purpose and fulfillment in life. We built healthy boundaries and established intentional daily habits that now serve my life instead of breaking it down. While over the years, visits to mental health therapists had been very useful in helping me understand 'how' I got to where I was, it wasn't until I started working with a life coach that I was able to make the significant, lasting changes I needed.
Today, my life has been radically transormed. I finally attained that 'work/life balance' that so many struggle to find. My energy is higher than ever and I now focus my time on the things that are aligned to my true purpose and bring me the most joy. Most importantly, my marriage has been restored and taken to a level of intimacy I never thought possible, and I continue to invest in rebuilding the relationships with my daughters, other family members and friends.
I was so profoundly changed by this journey that I felt called to help others navigate their path. I completed my life coach training and certification through the Life Purpose Institute, began coaching clients, and now serve as a Re:Generation leader to support others in finding true freedom from any type of struggle.
After a fulfilling 35-year career in consulting and technology, including 25 years at Deloitte, I retired in early 2026 in order to launch NEW LEGACY Coaching and to have more freedom to invest my time and energy into the things that I am most passionate about.
I didn't learn most of what I know from a textbook, I lived it. I know firsthand what it takes to succeed at the highest levels of business, leading hundreds of professionals and shaping strategy at one of the world's largest and most complex organizations. I also know just as intimately what it takes to face your own blind spots, break through old patterns, and build a life of real balance and fulfillment. I want that same growth, professionally and personally, for you. I founded NEW LEGACY Coaching because I believe no one should have to navigate the challenges of life alone, and no one should settle for a life lived without intention.
